The Academic Program at St. Barnabas Elementary School follows the guidelines and curriculum required by the New York State Department of Education and the Archdiocese of New York.


Please Note:

  • Qualified 7th and 8th graders are invited to enroll in High School Spanish I and Integrated Algebra.
  • An 8th Grade Preparatory Class is offered for the Test for Admission into Catholic High School (TACHS)

Instruction is given in the following subjects:

Religion, Reading, English Grammar & Composition, N. Y. S History, Civics, U.S. History, Spelling, Penmanship, Science & Health, Mathematics, Social Studies, Geography, Physical Education, Family Life, Human Sexuality/AIDS, Safe Environment

Academic Enrichment programs include instruction in Art, Computer Education, Music, Library Skills, Values Education and Character Development.

In addition, instruction is periodically provided in alcohol, drug and tobacco abuse; personal safety; traffic and bicycle safety; fire drills and fire prevention; environmental studies and conservation; humane treatment of animals.

An eighth grade Preparatory Class is offered for the Test for Admission into Catholic High School (TACHS), at an additional fee. Classes are held on Saturdays.
